1996 spring meeting

1st-2nd March 1996, Heathrow

President Dr Mike Bagshaw, head of British Airways Health Services, organized a splendid day of aero-medical information and fun in the 747-400 simulators, devices which are used for zero-time training - they are so realistic that pilots graduate from them straight to revenue flights. Another simulator tried out by members is used for training cabin crew: a full-size fuselage mock-up which suddenly and without warning filled with smoke! There's more to simulation than thrashing around imaginary circuits.
