1979 autumn meeting
15th September 1979, Yeovilton
Fourteen aircraft - the largest number for a meeting so far - arrived in perfect weather at RNAS Heron. The theme was the role of aviation in the modern Navy. A Sea Harrier was available to us on static display, but internal photography was not allowed. The "Blue Herons" aerobatic team was grounded by industrial action, but the Royal Navy History Flight flew in and gave a superb demonstration with the Swordfish and the Sea Fury (the Firefly had been left at St. Eval with pneumatic problems). 79 members and guests dined at the Post House Hotel, Sherbourne. At the AGM there was further discussion of the Articles of the Association. The vast majority of members wished it to remain non-political.
