The autumn meeting of the BMPA was held in Nottingham on the weekend of September 3rd, 4th and 5th. Members flew into Nottingham East Midlands Airport (EGNX) where Donington Aviation provided parking and reception facilities courtesy of Eric and Erica Bannister. Accommodation for the weekend was in the Holiday Inn at Castle Marina, Nottingham, situated on a basin of the Nottingham canal. The marina is within easy and pleasant walking distance of the centre of Nottingham, walking alongside the canal. Highlights of the walk include views of the Castle, the Inland Revenue offices, a recent, very modern addition to the local architectural scene(!) and also the new Magistrate's Courthouse. On the Friday evening members took a a trip on the River Trent in the 'Nottingham Princess' with a barbecue and disco. On the Saturday morning there was a visit to the National Space Centre in Leicester followed in the afternoon by a visit to Wollaton Hall, one of our stately homes.
There was a surprise visit - not for the fainthearted - on the Sunday morning, the meeting finishing with a buffet lunch before returning to the airport for the final departures.
The meeting was organised by Kevin Gibbin.
