History of the BMPA  >  1976

1976 Spring Meeting, February 27-29, North Luffenham, Stamford

Design of the BMPA tie was approved, to be sold for £1.75. Membership at 121, but altogether there had been 230 since the inception of the Association. Bill Wilkinson was tackling a history of the first ten years. An elderly member was seen nonchalantly swinging a very small child in a carrycot, as though it contained sandwiches. Wing Commander Gordon Sharp at RAF North Luffenham threatened to put members through the disorientation device, the oxygen systems fault trainer, a decompression chamber and a hypoxia run.
